I’m not a resolution maker. I’ve fallen off that band wagon one to many times. I am about intentions. The last two years I’ve set my intention(s) for the year with a single word.
2015’s word came pretty quickly. It lodged itself into my conscious (like a mantra) the first week of December. Rooted into my heart by Christmas and permeated to my soul by New Year’s. Even so, I embarked on the Find Your Word project at the New Year. It sealed the deal. (So to speak).
This is my third year to do this exercise. My 2013 year’s word COURAGE ended up being Eh… I don’t regret the word. It just wasn’t a word I circled back to on a regular basis. It ended up being a year of GRACE. 2014’s word KINDNESS was dead on. I circled back to it over and over. And I mean over and OVER.
All my choices, thoughts and decisions will pass through this filter: is this my authentic. In life. In love. In play. In work. In rest.
I’ll be asking myself (most likely more!) these questions throughout the year. What is most authentic for me? Will this choice/decision shape me the way I want to be shaped or the way others want to shape me? Is a friendship – new or old – one that is authentic? Is each project one that ignites something deep? Does my work challenge me to grow? Play? Create? If not, where do I want to go and why? Is the love that I give and receive healthy? Am I cultivating the most important relationship (s) 1) myself and 2) with others in my most authentic way?
AUTHENTIC means reaching deep. To become a kinder, stronger, playful, more loving (warrior) me.
How about you? Did you choose a word or intention for 2015?
